The BC Messenger

The BC Messenger

Real science, real Bible, real history, real world. Enlightening discussions that will change the way you think about the ancient Old Testament.

The biblical accounts are not myth or legend; in fact they are more real than you ever imagined. Each month brings you Bible/science research results you won't hear anywhere else, and why it matters for you today.

Your hosts, Steve and Jennifer Hall, present a collage of topics from the research work of Dr. Gerald Aardsma (The Biblical Chronologist), providing a desperately needed data-rich apologetic for the foundations of the Christian faith.

The Joshua Narrative: Archaeology, History, and You

[Season 4, Episode 11] Instead of our typical back-and-forth discussion as the featured topic, this month we share a message given to a church congregation. Steve recently preached this message covering several aspects of the real-world history we find at both Jericho and Ai, when traditional biblical chronology is corrected. This was part of a sermon series in the book of Joshua. After the message was concluded, we decided it would be an excellent fit for The BC Messenger podcast audience as we

Make the Old Testament Great Again

In any evangelical church today, congregations are much more likely to hear a sermon based on the New Testament rather than the Old Testament. Perhaps the pastor will allude to or reference the Old Testament, but the primary text will most likely be from the New. Congregations do not demonstrate a general familiarity with notable Old Testament stories, such as young men calling out to Elijah "Go up thou bald head!" or Daniel's dream of a stone that grew into a mountain and filled the whole earth

Is the Law of Moses Just a Copy of Older Law Codes?

[Season 4, Episode 9] A good way to undermine biblical authority and divine authorship is to demonstrate that the biblical writings seem to be mimicking earlier historical ideas and events. A well-known example is the historically revered Law of Moses. Because there are at least five ancient law codes that pre-date the traditional time of Moses, all bearing some similarities to the Mosaic Law, many people have claimed that the Law of Moses was copying earlier law codes. Yet, Christians have hist

Nothing Fails Like Bible History?? Challenging YouTuber "Holy Koolaid"

[Season 4, Episode 8] For over three and a half years, we've been instructing you about biblical historicity and chronology, from many angles. Today we want to show you just how effective all this knowledge is in the "real world." The YouTube channel "Holy Koolaid" gleefully wreaks havoc with problematic issues facing Old Testament historicity. It was created by Thomas Westbrook (missionary kid turned evangelistic scoffer) whose channel boasts 391K subscribers. His popular series "Nothing Fails

Corruption in Modern Science (Why We Are Independent)

[Season 4, Episode 7] For new ideas to move forward, a society must have free speech. In addition, societies today have systems for new ideas (scientific research) to be presented and evaluated. But what happens when those well-established systems become corrupted—when they actually stand in the way of truth and advancement? This is now happening in our country's academic institutions, and many are completely unaware. "Publish or perish" and peer review have become roadblocks to truth and progre

"Noah's Flood Revisited" by Hugh Ross - Why it Fails

Last year, Hugh Ross ( Reasons to Believe ) replied to a comment we left on X (formerly Twitter). Our comment asked if he had seen some aspects of Dr. Aardsma's work. Ross replied, "I have just completed a book on Noah's Flood and have responded to Aardsma's claims." The book Ross referenced became available in October. This month we critique Noah's Flood Revisited (new depths of insight from science and Scripture) . We discuss several aspects of this new book by an old-earth creationist, pointi
